Registration numbers have skyrocketed by 129% in seven years! China Medical University’s Food and Drug Safety USR project has won the 2026 Global Views "Well-being & Symbiosis Excellence Award."

China Medical University (CMU) has achieved another triumphant milestone in promoting University Social Responsibility (USR)! The project "Building a Cross-Domain Sustainable Ecosystem for Medication and Food Safety" has been honored with the 2026 Global Views Monthly USR Excellence Award. As the only project from the university to receive an award this year, the honor was accepted by Chief Sustainability Officer Professor Li Cheng-chun and Project Leader Professor Lin Xiang-wen. This award recognizes the project's exceptional results in deep local engagement and its ability to bridge professional expertise with societal needs. Notably, with only one-third of all entries winning in 2026, the significantly heightened competition highlights the prestige of this achievement.

This project integrates four major professional fields—Traditional Chinese Medicine, Western Medicine, Food Science, and Nutrition—to provide innovative cross-disciplinary solutions for critical issues such as medication safety in an aging society, food safety risks, and health inequality. Through a model of "Online × Offline" and "Curriculum × Community × Youth Action," the team has not only established a rare national digital platform for food and drug safety but has also ventured into rural areas to promote intergenerational learning, putting health equity into practice. The project's outcomes also demonstrate high social impact; in 2025, the Social Return on Investment (SROI) reached 1:4.02, indicating that every 1 TWD invested creates over 4 times the social value. Focusing on "Health and Well-being" and "Social Symbiosis," the award-winning initiative drives food and drug safety education, community health promotion, and age-friendly actions. It not only cultivates students' practical abilities but also fosters bidirectional co-creation between the university and the community, fulfilling United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 3 (SDG 3).

Project Leader Professor Lin Xiang-wen stated that this award is not only an affirmation of the team's long-term dedication but also represents the evolution of USR from isolated services toward an innovative model that is "replicable, scalable, and sustainable." In the future, the team will continue to deepen cross-domain cooperation to create a more influential sustainable health ecosystem. Chief Sustainability Officer Li Cheng-chun added that China Medical University will continue to deepen its USR initiatives, strengthen the integration of results and impact assessments, and expand international and interdisciplinary collaborations, striving to build a sustainable health ecosystem that encompasses educational, professional, and social value.
