In response to global and national efforts to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050, China Medical University (CMU) continues to advance greenhouse gas (GHG) inventories and carbon management initiatives, actively fulfilling its responsibility to promote energy conservation and carbon reduction. As part of its recent efforts to develop a carbon neutrality initiative in the Beigang area, the University commissioned an independent third-party professional organization to verify its GHG inventory. This initiative aims to obtain accurate emissions data and ensure the objectivity and credibility of the inventory results, demonstrating CMU’s commitment to and proactive efforts in carbon management.

On October 14 and 15, CMU commissioned PwC Green Technology to conduct a two-day third-party verification of its GHG inventory in accordance with the relevant GHG inventory regulations and programs established by Taiwan’s Ministry of Environment. During the verification process, professional reviews and data validation were conducted to examine the inventory data and supporting documentation, ensuring the completeness and reliability of the reported GHG emissions information. The verification process was successfully completed.

This third-party verification marks an important milestone in CMU’s efforts to advance its carbon neutrality initiative in Beigang. It also demonstrates the University’s tangible progress in implementing carbon management through scientific, systematic, and transparent approaches. By establishing a reliable foundation of GHG emissions data, CMU will continue to improve its carbon inventory and emissions management mechanisms. These efforts will provide a sound basis for planning future carbon reduction measures, evaluating their effectiveness, and advancing carbon neutrality initiatives.

Looking ahead, CMU will continue to strengthen sustainability governance across its campus and related facilities by integrating professional expertise, data management, and practical carbon reduction measures. Through these ongoing efforts, the University aims to progressively achieve its energy conservation and carbon reduction goals, fulfill its social responsibility as a higher education institution, and contribute to the realization of the 2050 net-zero emissions vision and a sustainable environment.
