Climate change is no longer solely an environmental issue; it is also reshaping health risks and creating new challenges for healthcare systems. China Medical University (CMU) participated in the 2026 Taiwan Climate Action Expo (TAIWAN COP6), held from October 2 to 4 at the National Science and Technology Museum in Kaohsiung. Drawing on its expertise as a medical university, CMU integrated climate resilience, smart healthcare, traditional Chinese medicine and wellness, medication safety, and digital interactive education. Through climate dialogue sessions, exhibition lectures, and interactive activities, CMU transformed the complex relationship between climate and health into accessible and engaging learning experiences for the public. Approximately 700 people participated in activities at CMU’s exhibition booth over the three-day event. In recognition of these efforts, CMU received the event’s First Place in the Private Sector award as well as the Resilient Healthcare Education Award.

In recent years, the World Health Organization (WHO) has continued to advocate for healthcare systems that are both climate-resilient and environmentally sustainable. WHO emphasizes that, in the face of climate change, healthcare systems must strengthen their capacity to anticipate, prevent, prepare for, and manage climate-related health risks while maintaining the quality of healthcare services under climate-related impacts. WHO’s framework for climate-resilient health systems comprises six major domains and ten components, covering areas including health and healthcare workers, energy, water and sanitation, healthcare waste, infrastructure, technology, and medical products. The framework further integrates climate adaptation into healthcare systems and services.

In line with the international movement toward climate-resilient healthcare, CMU adopted “Better Life, Better World” as the central theme of its climate act
