China Medical University (CMU) held the second meeting of the 2025 Sustainable Governance and Risk Management Committee on May 11, 2025, presided over by Vice President Lin Cheng-Chieh. The meeting commenced with the confirmation of a streamlining plan for organizational governance. Drawing on the models of National Taiwan University and Asia University, the committee revised the establishment regulations to control the number of members and ensure the target of one-third female representation is met. Reappointments under the new regulations are expected to take effect in the 2026 academic year.

Regarding environmental sustainability, the university is actively promoting the ISO 50001 energy management system. The Shuinan and Beigang campuses are slated to obtain certification in 2026, with full-campus verification expected by 2027. Simultaneously, the Beigang campus has launched a carbon-neutral demonstration site project. With a letter of commitment signed by the President, the declaration of carbon neutrality is projected for completion in 2026, serving as a short-term milestone toward the goal of a Net-Zero Campus by 2050.

In terms of sustainability labeling, the university utilized AI models to benchmark against international standards. The results indicate that the labeling ratio for faculty sustainability research increased to 0.94 in 2025, while the ratio of sustainability courses rose significantly to 0.65. Moving forward, these metrics will be further categorized down to the college and department levels to align with departmental evaluations.

For sustainable education strategies, the committee resolved to shift the focus of sustainability education from general education advocacy to professional integration. This initiative is scheduled for a formal pilot in the 2026 academic year. Each college will be required to inventory three existing benchmark professional courses to align them with sustainability literacy. The university will provide funding subsidies and incentive mechanisms to alleviate faculty burdens and increase participation incentives.

Finally, the meeting reviewed and approved 13 material issues for the 2025 Sustainability Report, incorporating new items such as "AI-Driven Learning and Institutional Transformation." Based on committee recommendations, "Cultivating High-Level Talent" will be retained as a standalone issue to highlight the university's medical expertise and social impact. Through this meeting, the university demonstrated its commitment to fully implementing sustainable governance by integrating AI technology, professional academic rigor, and environmental action.
