Sustainble Workplace

The I-Lab teacher and student team, consisting of 16 members, will travel to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, from June 20 to 28, 2025, for a 9-day international exchange trip. During this period, the team will visit 8 teams, organizations, and enterprises focused on "Sustainable Workplace and Diversity Inclusion," and collaborate with Ho Chi Minh University of Technology on an international innovation course (CMU × HUTECH innovation program). The international innovation course invites students from both universities to brainstorm ideas related to "sustainable workplaces" and "green economy." The course plan includes cross-border video interactions, on-site presentations, and exchange visits, allowing Taiwanese and Vietnamese students to collaborate in groups on their respective innovative proposals. A total of 13 students from Ho Chi Minh University of Technology participated in this collaboration, which is regarded as an important event in the university's international program, and the school released a press release highlighting the significance and outcomes of this cross-national exchange (Press release link(link is external)).

This exchange activity is co-hosted by Associate Professor Yuan Ming-Hao and Assistant Professor Chang Chia-Ming from I-Lab, with participation from Associate Professor Huang Yi-Jen from the Department of Nutrition and Professor Huang Li-Chi from the Department of Nursing, executing the "International 'Sustainable Workplace' Innovative Talent Training Program for a Super-Aging Resilient Society," funded by the Youth Development Administration of the Ministry of Education. The 12 participating students were selected based on an open recruitment process (https://ilab.cmu.edu.tw/news/233), and completed this semester's I-Lab "Creative Innovation Course," sustainable and diverse workplace DEI lectures (https://ilab.cmu.edu.tw/news/239), design thinking practices, etc., presenting innovative proposals themed on "Sustainable Workplace in Taiwan's Super-Aging Society," and winning awards in the 2025 "Sichuang Cup Competition" (https://ilab.cmu.edu.tw/news/243). After selection and pre-departure training, they officially represent our school in this international exchange.

The participating students come from diverse departments including: the Department of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Department of Medicine, Department of Medical Imaging and Radiological Sciences, Department of Life Sciences, Department of Occupational Safety and Health, Department of Medical Informatics, School of Pharmacy, and Department of Cosmetic Science, showcasing interdisciplinary collaborative energy. Visiting organizations include: universities and hospitals in Vietnam (Ho Chi Minh University of Technology, Ho Chi Minh University of Medicine, Rehabilitation Department of Ho Chi Minh University of Medicine Hospital), the public and private organization diversity inclusion empowerment system (Vietnam Assistance for the Handicapped, Social Work Center – Branch 3, Thien Phuoc Shelter), and sustainable workplace practical units (Maison Chance Take Wing Center, DIGI-TEXX Vietnam). I-Lab hopes to expand students' horizons through international visits and enhance their sustainable innovation capabilities in the face of challenges posed by a super-aging society.
